Lowest Specific Power Consumption & Carbon Footprint
An earlier, less refined demonstration version of the NexGenDesal™ System was evaluated by independent experts and found to have the lowest Specific Power Consumption and smallest Carbon Footprint of any seawater desalination system currently on offer.
And not lower by a little – lower by a lot.

Specific Power Consumption
A demonstration version of our NexGenDesal System was reviewed and reported on by an independent expert (Water Globe Consulting).
The report finds that the demonstration system met or exceeded all performance expectations and industry standards related to productivity, reliability, product water quality, and energy use. Energy use was, 40-48% lower than the best-in-class seawater reverse osmosis desalination plants using Pacific Ocean water for seawater desalination (1.8-2.1 kWh/m3 vs. 3.5 kWh/m3). |
Carbon FootprintA Carbon Footprint analysis of the NexGenDesal design was undertaken by independent experts (ARUP). Their findings show that our system significantly reduces the climate change impact of seawater reverse osmosis desalination.
Although the exact reduction depends on the source of electricity, it was found that with a grid fuel mix that is 75% coal and 12.5% natural gas, the calculated climate change impact reduction is 79%. This reduces to 71% when 75% of Grid electricity is derived from natural gas, with 12.5% from coal. Since NexGenDesal is designed to operate exclusively on renewable energy, it’s reasonable to assume that doing so will further reduce the carbon footprint to a negligible amount. |
